A fractionator for fractioning a suspension in at least two fractions, including a drum (1) rotatable about a substantially horizontal axis and having axially spaced end walls (3, 4), a centrally arranged inlet (9) for suspension, a flow channel for suspension in the drum and outlet means (15) for fractions. The flow channel (12-10, 10-13, 13-11, 11-14, 14-2) extends from the inlet (9) forth and back between the end walls of the drum and radially outwards towards an outlet (15) for the at least two fractions. Preferably, the flow channel is defined by substantially concentric cylindrical walls (10-14), of which every second (10, 11) in its one axial end is tightly connected to one end wall (3) of the drum and every second (12, 13, 14) in its one axial end is tightly connected to the other end wall (4) of the drum, so that flow can take place between the respective other ends of the cylindrical walls and the one and the other end wall, respectively, of the drum.

Dispositif de fractionnement servant à séparer une suspension en au moins deux fractions et comportant un tambour (1) tournant autour d'un axe sensiblement horizontal et présentant des parois terminales espacées dans le sens axial (3, 4), un orifice d'entrée central (9), destiné à la suspension, un canal d'écoulement de la suspension, ménagé dans le tambour, et des orifices de sortie (15) pour les différentes fractions. Le canal d'écoulement (12-10, 10-13, 13-11, 11-14, 14-11), qui part de l'orifice d'entrée (9), fait une série d'allers et retours entre les parois terminales du tambour et débouche radialement sur l'orifice de sortie (15) de chacune des différentes fractions. Le canal d'écoulement est de préférence délimité par des parois cylindriques sensiblement concentriques (10-14) dont une sur deux (10, 11) est fixée de façon étanche, à son extrémité axiale, à l'une des parois (3) du tambour, et une sur deux (12, 13, 14) est fixée de façon étanche, à son extrémité axiale, à l'autre paroi (4), si bien que l'écoulement se fait entre les extrémités alternées respectives de chacune des parois cylindriques en allant d'une paroi terminale du tambour à l'autre.
