Abstract of the Disclosure Disclosed is a method of t.d.m. frame synchronization using variable synchronizing words. The method is applicable to t.d.m. systems with either bit-wise or envelope-wise interleaving. Whenever a number of marker bits forming synchronizing words have been disturbed. The frame synchronization may go out of step. The present invention is to be seen in setting forth a method guaranteeing a stable frame synchronization, even if individual marker bits are disturbed. This is achieved in that the t.d.m. signal is utilized for synchronization in its non-synchronous state, whereas in its synchronous state the synchronization is effected by locally produced marker bits.
