ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A frangible bonding system utilizes blush lacquer as the frangible link in a system for bonding a substrate to a surface, such as the surface of a cover laye-. The system is particularly adapted for packaging sterilized products. A substrate, such as paper, is coated with a layer of blush lacquer and dried. An adhesive, such as heat seal material, is superposed. A cover layer is overlaid, with 2 product between the layers. The package is then sealed and sterilized. Opening of the package is by peeling the cover layer and substrate from one another, breaking the cohesive internal bonds of the blush lacquer.
