A method and system for detecting fraud in a telecommunications network matches information on individual calls to a series of rules (18). For each rule (r), a threshold (Tr) is defined, and if the fit of an individual call to that rule is better than Tr an alarm is generated. All call records resulting in alarms are stored within a positive matching file. Likewise, calls which just fail to meet the criteria, within a given tolerance level .THETA., are stored in a separate negative matching file. The entries in the positive and negative matching files are then checked by skilled operators to determine which in fact represent true fraud. On the basis of those validations, a decision module within the system automatically calculates and implements the necessary changes to the thresholds (Tr) by means of a feedback loop.
Un système permettant de détecter une fraude dans un réseau de télécommunications fait correspondre les informations concernant des appels individuels à une série de règles (18). Pour chaque règle (r), un seuil (T¿r?) est défini et, si la correspondance d'un appel individuel à cette règle est meilleure que T¿r?, une alarme est générée. Tous les enregistrements d'appels provoquant une alarme sont mis en mémoire dans un fichier de correspondance positive. De même, les appels qui manquent de peu à satisfaire aux critères, dans une certaine marge de tolérance .THETA., sont mis en mémoire dans un fichier de correspondance négative distinct. Les entrées dans les fichiers de correspondance positive et négative sont ensuite vérifiées par des opérateurs entraînés, qui déterminent laquelle en réalité représente une véritable fraude. Sur la base de ces validations, un module de décision incorporé au système calcule et met en oeuvre automatiquement les modifications nécessaires pour les seuils (T¿r?) au moyen d'une boucle de rétroaction.
