FREE DISC VALVE Abstract of the disclosure This invention relates to the disc valves wherein the disc is movable in a direction substantially parallel to the central axis of said disc over a small distance by mo- ving the stem in a direction parallel to its central axis, which stem is connected to said disc in a sliding relati- onship wherein the linear movement of said stem relative to said disc is allowed on a plane substantially includ- ing the central axis of said valve stem and the central axis of said disc while the rotational movement therebet- ween is prohibited. The seating pressure between said disc and its matching annular seat disposed on the valve body is established for a leak-proof closure or relieved for an easy rotation of said disc by moving said stem in one or the other direction parallel to its central axis by means of the lever means, cam means or jackscrew means connected to said stem. Said movement of said stem presses said disc toward to said annular seat to establish a seating pressure or separates said disc away from said annular seat to relieve the seating pressure. The same principles as described is applied to construct the ball valves of variable seating pressure. - 1 -
