A financial transaction system (10) is provided in which a user is given a portable RF financial transaction terminal (20) with which to enter transaction data via a keypad (52) or read a UPC bar code on merchandise via a CCD scanner (42) and read their credit, debit or smart card. The RF financial transaction terminal (20) transmits the transaction and card data to a central network controller (12) via a RF communications link. The central network controller (12) in turn conveys the transaction and card data to the host computers at a financial institution where the transaction is processed in real-time. The financial institutions return verification data to the central network controller which is passed back to the RF financial transaction terminal via the RF communications link. The RF financial transaction terminal then generates a printed receipt of the transaction for the user. All of this may be done while the RF financial transaction terminal and the user's credit, debit or smart card remains in the total custody of the user. The user is therefore relieved from having to proceed to an ABM, retail platform, cashier's desk, etc.
L'invention est un système d'exécution de transactions financières (10) dans lequel l'utilisateur est doté d'un terminal RF d'exécution de transactions financières (20) avec lequel il introduit dans le système des données de transaction au moyen d'un clavier (52), ou il lit des codes à barre UPC sur des marchandises au moyen d'un lecteur à dispositif à transfert de charge (42), ou encore il lit des cartes de crédit ou de débit. Le terminal RF (20) transmet les données de transaction à un contrôleur de réseau central (12) via une liaison de communication RF. Ce contrôleur transmet à son tour les données de transaction à l'ordinateur hôte de l'institution financière où la transaction est traitée en temps réel. L'institution financière transmet des données de vérification au contrôleur et ces données sont retransmises au terminal d'exécution de transactions financières via la liaison de communication RF. Le terminal produit alors un récépissé imprimé pour la transaction à l'intention de l'utilisateur. Toutes ces opérations peuvent être effectuées alors que le terminal de transactions financières RF et la carte de crédit ou de débit de l'utilisateur restent entièrement sous contrôle de l'utilisateur. Celui-ci n'est par conséquent pas obligé de se rendre à un guichet automatique, à un comptoir de vente au détail, à une caisse, etc.
