ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE. To minimize circuit components of a free-running oscillatory electrical energy supply circuit, especially for fluorescent lamps, having a transistor (T1) coupled to a control winding (RK1), and ensure, simultaneously, starting due to spurious or noise signals arising in the circuit upon first being connected or energized, while additionally ensuring rapid carrier depletion of the transistor upon turn-OFF thereof, a first and second diode (D1, D2) having their anodes connected to a common junction (J1), is coupled to the control winding (RK1), the first diode (D1) being connected to a second junction (J2) of a resistor (R) and to the collector of the transistor (T1); a third junction (J3) connects the cathode of the first diode (D1) to the second terminal of the resistor (R), and to the base of the transistor. A capacitor (C) is coupled in parallel to the second diode, that is, across the junctions (J1, J3). The capacity value of the capacitor can be reduced from about 100 nF to 10 nF by connecting a third diode (D3)in parallel with the capacitor (C), but polarized oppositely with respect to the second diode (D2). A free-wheeling or bypass diode (DF) can be connected across the collector-emitter of the transistor; an inexpensive similar effect can be obtained by a much lower breakdown-voltage diode (D4) connected in series with the first diode (D1) and, directly or indirectly, to either the base or emitter of the transistor providing a bypass path through the fourth and first diodes (D4, D1). Damping impedances, base impedances and emitter impedances can be used, as desired.
