ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method for treating particulate solids such as coal to reduce the cohesive strength of such solids when frozen which consists of spraying said solids with a hydro- carbon liquid solution of a mixture of surfactants having an HLB of greater than 12 and containing an anionic sur- factant such as the monoethanol amine salt of dodecyl ben- zene sulfonic acid and a nonionic surfactant such as dino- nylphenol reacted with 9 moles of ethylene oxide.
