The livestock feeding device comprises two feed gates appropriately attached to a main frame such that the base of the feed gates does not contact the ground. The feed gates, in combination with the end frames contain the forage within the feeder. The feed gates are appropriately designed such that the animal can pass its mouth and or head through the feed gate but not its shoulders. Suspension rods connect the feed gate to the articulation brackets. The articulation brackets are angled such that when attached the feed gates swing against, and remain in contact with, the surface of the baled forage during feeding, and the bottom corners of the feed gates touch when empty. The feed gate shape will match the shape of the baled forage. The feed gates swing upwards for loading. The device essentially eliminates freeze-down and provides a labour-free low wastage feeder primarily for short- necked livestock.
