A chiller compartment (16) is provided that secures to the inside of a refrigerator door (14). The chiller compartment (16) includes a pair of French doors (18) that are connected by a linkage (28, 30) that causes the doors (18) to simultaneously open or close. The doors (18) retract within the chiller compartment (16) when opened, thereby protecting the doors should the refrigerator door (14) be closed while the chiller compartment doors (18) are left open. The chiller compartment (16) also includes a tray (34) of sufficient height to secure tall beverages or food items and prevent such items from toppling out of the chiller compartment (16) while the refrigerator door (14) is opened or closed.
