ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a frequency converter as used in a converter to convert a microwave signal received from a satellite broadcast into a signal of lower frequency, comprising a circular waveguide unit (12) in which a signal is fed, a rectangular waveguide unit (14) which possesses a rectangular waveguide-microstrip line converter unit (15) in its final end, and a circular-rectangular waveguide converter unit (13) which connects the circular waveguide unit (12) and rectangular waveguide unit (14) together, wherein the diameter of the circular waveguide unit (12) is so set that the cutoff frequency of the circular waveguide unit (12) may be lower than the frequency of reception signal and higher than the local oscillation frequency, thereby causing the circular waveguide unit (12) to function as a high pass filter.
