ABSTRACT In a conventional frequency synthesizer used for a frequency modulation trans- ceiver, a reference oscillator feeds a reception oscillator and a transmission oscillator, each of which has a phase locked loop (PLL). Each PLL includes a voltage controller oscillator (VCO), variable frequency divider, phase com- parator and low pass filter. The dividing ratio of each frequency divider is varied with a channel designation signal and a modulating signal is applied to the VCO of the transmission oscillator together with a control voltage representative of the frequency difference between the VCO output and the reference oscillation. To overcome instability inherent in this system the invention takes a portion of the modulated carrier wave demodulates it and adds it to the modulating signal in reverse phase to achieve negative feedback.
