Abstract The invention relates to a front jaw (1) comprising a housing (2), in which a release spring (40) is housed. This release spring loads a pull rod (10) extending through it, which pull rod acts through a release plate (13) onto the shorter lever arms (36) of two toggle levers (35) which are pivotal about vertical axes (34) on a support part (20) and the longer lever arms of which are designed as a sole holders (37). The support part (20) has a through opening (21) for the pull rod (10) and has a front support surface (23) which rests at least partially on a rear crosswall (3) of the housing (2). In order to prevent dirt from penetrating from above in such a front jaw (1) and to give the designer greater freedom with respect to the choice of material, the inven- tion provides that following the rear crosswall (3) of the housing (2) there is arranged an insert plate (100) essen- tially resting on the crosswall and extending vertically, on which insert plate the support part (20) rests in certain areas. It is furthermore important according to the invention that upper side parts (104) of the insert plate (100) each have a first section (105) of a thin material thickness and following thereafter a second section (106) of a greater material thickness.
