ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for the recovery by froth flotation of metal values from metallic mineral ores. The metal values are present in the ores in the form of one or more minerals selected from the group consisting in metal sulphides, metal oxides, sylvanite, calaverite, sperrylite and hessite. The process includes using as a collector an alkyl mercaptan in which the alkyl group has not less than nine carbon atoms.
