Dispersions of pigment, such as calcium carbonate, titanium dioxide and types of clay, can be effectively stabilised by the use of a carboxyl-containing fructan in an amount of 0.05 - 10 % by weight, based on the dispersion, which fructan contains 0.5 - 3 carboxyl groups per mono-saccharide unit. The carboxyalkyl groups are in particular carboxymethyl groups, but the carboxyl groups can also be carboxyl groups obtained entirely or partially by oxidation. The carboxymethylfructan gives results which are comparable to or better than those obtained with the polyacrylates which are less desirable from the standpoint of health and environment.
La présente invention concerne la possibilité de stabilisation efficace de dispersions de pigments, tels que du carbonate de calcium, du dioxyde de titane et de types d'argile, à l'aide d'un fructane contenant des groupes carboxyles, utilisé en quantité allant de 0,05 % à 10 % en poids de la suspension, le fructane contenant de 0,5 à 3 groupes carboxyliques par unité monosaccharide. Les groupes carboxyalkyles sont, en particulier, des groupes carboxyméthyles; cependant les groupes carboxyles peuvent être aussi des groupes carboxyles obtenus partiellement ou entièrement par oxydation. Le carboxyméthylfructane donne des résultats qui sont comparables ou meilleurs que ceux obtenus avec les polyacrylates dont l'usage est moins souhaitable en ce qui concerne la santé et l'environnement.
