ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE FRUCTOSE SWEETENED CHEWING GUM COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR PREPARING SAME The present invention pertains to an anhydrous chewing gum composition which comprises in percentages by weight of the chewing gum composition (a) a gum base present in an amount up to about 55%, (b) a bulk sweetening agent comprising pulverized fructose having a particle size capable of passing through a 60 mesh screen present in an amount from about 35% to about 90%, and (c) an effective amount of a flavoring agent. In another embodiment, the invention pertains to an anhydrous reduced-calorie chewing gum composition which comprises in percentages by weight of the chewing gum composition (a) a gum base having an enhanced hydrophilic character present in an amount from about 55% to about 90%, (b) a bulk sweetening agent comprising pulverized fructose having a particle size capable of passing through a 60 mesh screen present in an amount up to about 45%, and (c) an effective amount of a flavoring agent.
