FRUSTO-CONICAL SCREEN BASKET Abstract of the Disclosure A frusto-conical screen basket for centrifuges for separating liquids from solids, the basket having a screening area formed by a plurality of conical segments welded together along adjoining sides and each formed of a plurality of lateral- ly spaced parallel and longitudinally extending wedge-shaped pro- file screen wires backed by a plurality of laterally spaced trans- versely extending parallel tie bands generally rectangular in cross-section and each having a side engaging and fusion welded to backs of the screen wires along an edge portion facing the basket's narrower end. For installations in which the mixture to be screened is abrasive and fed directly into the smaller end por- tion of the basket, that end portion is formed as an imperforate, wear and corrosion-resistant feed cone concentric with and welded along its larger inner end to the contiguous end of the basket's screening area.
