The present invention is directed to a fuel additive composition containing (i) a polyether alcohol of the formula (see figure 1) wherein R is hydrogen or a hydrocarbyl group of 1 to about 30 carbon atoms; R1 is hydrogen or a hydrocarbyl group of 1 to 5 carbon atoms or mixtures thereof provided that no more than 10 mole% of R1 is hydrogen and where the polyether alcohol is soluble in gasoline; and x is a number from about 4 to about 40; (ii) a hydrocarbylphenol having 1-3 hydrocarbyl groups such that the total weight average molecular weight of the hydrocarbyl groups is about 250 to about 6000; and (iii) optionally a third component containing a nitrogen-containing dispersant; wherein the weight ratio of the polyether alcohol to the hydrocarbylphenol is about 3:1 to about 1:20. The compositions are useful in reducing intake valve deposit and do not contribute to the increase in combustion chamber deposit in port fuel injected engines.

La présente invention porte sur une composition additive pour carburant, renfermant : i) un polyétheralcool de formule (voir figure 1), où R est de l'hydrogène ou un groupe hydrocarbyle de 1 à environ 30 atomes de carbone; R1 est de l'hydrogène ou un groupe hydrocarbyle de 1 à 5 atomes de carbone ou un mélange de groupes de ce type, à la condition qu'il n'y ait pas plus de 10 % en moles de R1 sous forme d'hydrogène et que le polyétheralcool soit soluble dans l'essence; x est un nombre d'environ 4 à environ 40; ii) un hydrocarbylphénol possédant 1-3 groupes hydrocarbyle, de telle façon que la masse molaire moyenne totale des groupes hydrocarbyle soit d'environ 250 à environ 6000; iii) facultativement, un troisième constituant renfermant un dispersant azoté, où le rapport pondéral polyétheralcool/hydrocarbylphénol est d'environ 3/1 à environ 1/20. Ces compositions permettent de réduire l'encrassement de la soupape d'admission et elles ne contribuent pas à augmenter l'encrassement des chambres de combustion des moteurs à injection dans l'orifice d'admission.
