17444 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Fuel briquettes comprising a fine-grain carbon carrier consisting of petroleum coke or a mixture of mainly petroleum coke and coal (preferably non-caking coal) with a binder and with a fine-grain combustion inhibitor mixed therein in the form of calcium carbonate and/or dolomite, which has been added to the initial fuel briquette mixture in a quantity in excess of 2% by weight, volatile constituents being eliminated from the fuel briquette.
