Disclosed is a fuel cell using a metal element (50) whose standard potential than is lower than that of Ru and higher than that of hydrogen. Since the metal element (50) is eluted from the Pt-Ru catalyst (1) before Ru being eluted from the catalyst (1), the elution of Ru from the catalyst can be prevented. Further, the metal element (50) is provided in a diffusion layer and/or a part of a catalyst layer isolated from an electrolyte membrane, the metal element (50) is unlikely to reach the electrolyte membrane even when the metal element (50) is diffused in the form of an ion and hardly reduces the proton conductivity of the electrolyte membrane. Thus, the contamination of the electrolyte membrane can be prevented. Examples of the metal element (50) include Cu, Re and Ge.

Cette invention concerne une pile à combustible utilisant un élément métallique (50) dont le potentiel standard est inférieur à celui du Ru et supérieur à celui de l~hydrogène. L~élément métallique (50) étant élué à partir du catalyseur Pt-Ru (1) avant que le Ru ne le soit, on peut éviter l~élution du Ru à partir du catalyseur. En outre, l~élément métallique (50) étant disposé dans une couche de diffusion et/ou une partie d~une couche de catalyseur isolées d~une membrane d~électrolyte, il ne risque pas d~atteindre cette membrane même s~il est diffusé sous forme d~un ion et réduit rarement la conductivité protonique de la membrane. On peut ainsi éviter la contamination de la membrane d~électrolyte. L~élément métallique (50) peut, par exemple, consister en du Cu, du Re ou du Ge.
