A fuel cell comprising cathode catalyst layer (2); anode catalyst layer (3); proton conduction film (6) interposed between the cathode catalyst layer (2) and the anode catalyst layer (3); liquid fuel tank (9) for storing of liquid fuel (L); fuel vaporization layer (10) for feeding volatile components of the liquid fuel to the anode catalyst layer (3); and vaporized fuel accommodation chamber (12) interposed between the fuel vaporization layer (10) and the anode catalyst layer (3), characterized in that the fuel cell further comprises internal pressure escape means (20) for discharging any carbon-dioxide- containing gas produced by the anode catalyst layer (3) through a side wall of the vaporized fuel accommodation chamber (12) to the outside of the cell.

L~invention concerne une pile à combustible comprenant une couche catalytique de cathode (2), une couche catalytique d~anode (3), une pellicule conductrice de protons (6) interposée entre la couche catalytique de cathode (2) et la couche catalytique d~anode (3), un réservoir à combustible liquide (9) pour stocker du combustible liquide (L), une couche de vaporisation de combustible (10) pour alimenter la couche catalytique d~anode (3) en composants volatils du liquide combustible, et une chambre de réception de combustible vaporisé (12) interposée entre la couche de vaporisation de combustible (10) et la couche catalytique d~anode (3). La pile à combustible est caractérisée en ce qu~elle comprend en outre un moyen d~échappement de pression interne (20) pour évacuer un gaz contenant du dioxyde de carbone, éventuellement produit par la couche catalytique d~anode (3), vers l~extérieur de la pile par une paroi latérale de la chambre de réception de combustible vaporisé (12).
