A separator material for fuel cells which is homogeneous and reduced in thickness unevenness and which has a small thickness, with the thinnest-part thickness being 0.3 mm or smaller, and enables fuel cell miniaturization. It is characterized by being obtained by: superposing green sheets produced by the doctor blade method from a slurry obtained by dispersing a graphite powder in a resin solution comprising an organic solvent and, dissolved therein, a resin binder and a dispersant; and molding the superposed sheets by hot pressing. Also provided is a process for producing the separator material characterized by dispersing 100 parts by weight of a graphite powder in a resin solution comprising an organic solvent and, dissolved therein, 10-35 parts by weight of a resin binder and 0.1-10 parts by weight of a dispersant to prepare a slurry having a viscosity of 100-2,000 mPa~s, applying the slurry to a film by the doctor blade method, drying the slurry applied, subsequently stripping the resultant coating from the film to produce a green sheet, superposing layers of this green sheet, and molding the stack by hot pressing.

La présente invention concerne un matériau séparateur destiné à des piles à combustible qui est homogène et a une irrégularité d~épaisseur réduite et qui présente une faible épaisseur, la partie la plus mince faisant 0,3 mm ou moins, et permet la miniaturisation de la pile à combustible. L~invention est caractérisée en ce qu~elle est obtenue en : superposant des feuilles vertes produites par le procédé de raclage à partir d~une bouillie obtenue en dispersant une poudre de graphite dans une solution de résine comprenant un solvant organique et, dissous dans celle-ci, un liant à base de résine et un dispersant ; et en moulant les feuilles superposées par pressage à chaud. L~invention concerne également un procédé pour produire le matériau séparateur caractérisé par la dispersion de 100 parties en poids d~une poudre de graphite dans une solution de résine comprenant un solvant organique et, dissoutes dans celle-ci, 10 à 35 parties en poids d~un liant à base de résine et 0,1 à 10 parties en poids d~un dispersant pour préparer une bouillie ayant une viscosité de 100 à 2000 mPaûs, en appliquant la bouillie en un film avec le procédé de raclage, en séchant la bouillie appliquée, en décollant par la suite le revêtement résultant du film afin de produire une feuille verte, en superposant les couches de cette feuille verte et en moulant l~empilement par pressage à chaud.
