2080375 9214805 PCTABS00015 Motor fuel compositions comprising a normally liquid fuel in the gasoline boiling range, and (A) an aminophenol of formula (I) wherein each A is independently H or a hydrocarbyl group, each T is independently H or a hydrocarbyl group of up to about 28 carbon atoms, a, b and c are each independently an integer of at least one with the proviso that the sum of a, b and c does not exceed the unsatisfied valences of Ar; and Ar is a single ring, a fused polynuclear ring or a linked polynuclear ring aromatic moiety having 0 to 3 optional substituents selected from the group consisting essentially of lower alkyl, lower alkoxyl, nitro, carboxy lower alkyl, nitroso, halo and combinations of two or more of said optional substituents; and (B) an amine of general formula (II) wherein R1 is a hydrocarbyl group containing from about 8 to about 24 carbon atoms, R2 and R3 are each independently H, a hydrocarbyl group containing from 1 to about 24 carbon atoms or a group of general formula (III) wherein R5 is an alkylene group containing from 2 to about 8 carbon atoms, and R2 and R3 are as defined hereinabove, each R4 is independently an alkylene group containing from 2 to about 8 carbon atoms, and each of x, y and z is independently an integer from 0 to about 20. In one embodiment, components (A) and (B) are present in amounts sufficient to provide total intake system cleanliness. In another embodiment, components (A) and (B) are present in amounts sufficient to prevent or to reduce the formation of intake valve deposits or to remove same where they have formed. Methods for providing total intake system cleanliness and preventing or reducing the formation of intake valve deposits or removing same, are disclosed.
