A flex fuel sensor is deployed in conjunction with the fuel transfer line (e.g. around a plastic fuel line) or at the bottom/side of a fuel tank. An RF signal of a constant frequency may be generated across a resonant circuit, which comprises of an inductor and a PCB trace capacitor, capacitor plates, semi cylindrical capacitor plates, or the like. Electromagnetic radiation is propagated into the passing fuel in the transfer pipe. The conductivity and dielectric properties of the fuel change the capacitance of the trace capacitor/capacitor plates. These changes are proportional to ethanol/alcohol content of the fuel and are preferably detected by a microcontroller, or the like, and then transmitted to a flex fuel vehicle Engine Management System.
Selon l'invention, un capteur poly-carburant est déployé conjointement avec la canalisation de transfert de carburant (par exemple autour d'une canalisation de carburant en matière plastique) ou sur le côté inférieur d'un réservoir de carburant. Un signal HF de fréquence constante peut être généré au travers d'un circuit résonnant qui est constitué d'une bobine d'inductance et d'un condensateur en pistes imprimées sur une carte, de plaques de condensateur, de plaques de condensateur semi cylindriques ou autres. Le rayonnement électromagnétique se propage dans le carburant traversant le tuyau de transfert. La conductivité et les propriétés diélectriques du carburant modifient la capacité du condensateur en pistes imprimées/des plaques de condensateur. Ces modifications sont proportionnelles à la teneur en éthanol/en alcool du carburant et sont de préférence détectées par un microcontrôleur ou autre puis transmises au système de gestion du moteur thermique du véhicule poly-carburant.
