Apparatus for reducing the total pressure of a compressible fluid fuel. The apparatus includes at least two closely spaced apart constant enthalpy expansion sections (10, 20), each section having at least one orifice (82, 92- 96, 112-116), the orifices in adjacent sections being noncoaxial. The pressure reduction lowers flow velocity when mixed with the air to below the flame speed to promote ignition and stable combustion.

L'invention concerne un dispositif servant à réduire la pression totale d'un carburant fluide compressible. Le dispositif comprend au moins deux parties d'expansion (10, 20) par enthalpie constante étroitement espacées; chaque partie comporte au moins un orifice (82, 92-96, 112-116), et les orifices de deux parties adjacentes ne sont pas coaxiaux. La réduction de pression réduit la vitesse d'écoulement, lors du mélange avec l'air, à une vitesse inférieure à celle de la flamme afin de faciliter l'allumage et une combustion stable.
