The Fuel Miser is designed to increase fuel economy. It is composed of three systems. The first is a thermally insulating plastic jacket. This will reduce fuel consumption caused by cold starts. The second is a system that shuts of the engine when it doesn't need to run. This will reduce fuel wasted by idling. The third is a new type of fuel system. This will increase the heat yield of the fuel. First. a plastic heat jacket will thermally insulated the engine. This will greatly increasing the amount of time required for the engine to get cold. At least 24 hours. It will also reduce the amount of time required for the engine to reach operating temperature. This eliminates most of the fuel lost during cold starts. It will also make winter driving much warmer. This jacket will also be a good place to install guides for wires, vacuum lines and tubing. The insulation will also make it possible to mount wires and rubber tubing closer to the engine without the danger of heat damage. This will make the vehicle easier to assemble and service. Secondly the PCM engine stops when the engine is not needed. Then restarts when the engine is needed. this will substantially reduce the amount of fuel wasted by idling. The electric motor will also double up as an alternator. Since the engine is insulated, it won't get cold enough to need enrichment in most traffic. A new fuel system I will call Sequential Direct Injection(SFI) will increase Chemical Kinetic efficiency of the engine. This is intended for gasoline engines only. The center of the injector pulse will be matched to the center of the intake stroke. Spraying fuel directly into the cylinders increases atomization because no fuel is collected on the top of the intake valve. In the same way SFI is more efficient than MPI. In MPI each injector squirts twice, during the intake and power stroke. SFI the injector only squirts during the intake stroke. Matching the middle of the pulse to the middle of the intake stroke increases atomization insuring maximum airspeed while the fuel is being injected.
