ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The fuel economy of an internal combustion engine can be improved by adding to the lubricating oil used to lubricate the crankcase of said engine form 0.25 to 2 weight percent of pentaerythritol mono-oleate in com- bination with 15 to 25 millimols per kilogram of zinc 0,0-di(2-ethylhexyl)- phosphorodithioate.
