The invention relates to a solid fuel element 10 which includes a body 12 of combustible material which is impregnated with an accelerant composition, including a liquid fuel and an evaporation inhibiting agent. In one embodiment the body 12 is sealed with a flammable sealant 14. The invention extends to a method of making a solid fuel element.
