ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A spark-ignition internal combustion engine in which additional fuel is introduced into the mixture supply system of the engine and, at a certain retarded interval thereafter, the cranking motor of the engine is actuated to start the engine when the engine temperature is low and/or the voltage supplied from the battery to energize the cranking motor is reduced during cranking of the engine.
