A micro-generator (10) for providing electrical power to a battery charger (26) capable of charging lithium ion, lithium polymer and other rechargeable batteries of the type which power portable electronic devices and MEMS. The micro~generator includes a micro-combustor (20) and a thermoelectric module (22) consisting of a number of quantum well thermoelectric panels (44) connected between spaced heat spreaders (40), one of which is mounted in thermocommunication with the micro-combustor. Different types of hydrocarbon fuel may be supplied to the micro-combustor where it is burned within a combustion chamber. The entire system is controlled in real time by a micro- controller (24) which is powered upon start up by an ultra capacitor and thereafter by the electric power produced by the thermoelectric module.
La présente invention a trait à un micro générateur pour la fourniture d'énergie électrique à un chargeur de batteries capable de charger des accumulateurs aux ions de lithium, lithium polymère ou autre accumulateurs rechargeables alimentant des dispositifs électroniques et de systèmes mécaniques microélectriques portatifs. Le micro-générateur comporte une micro chambre de combustion et un module thermoélectrique constitué d'une pluralité de panneaux thermoélectriques à puits quantiques reliés entre des dissipateurs thermiques espacés, dont un est monté en communication thermique avec la micro chambre de combustion. Différents types de combustible hydrocarboné peuvent être fournis à la micro chambre de combustion où il est brûlé au sein d'une chambre de combustion. L'ensemble du système est commandé en temps réel par un microcontrôleur qui est alimenté lors du démarrage par un condensateur ultra et ensuite par l'énergie électrique produite par le module thermoélectrique.
