ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A high pressure gas-driven fuel pump is disclosed for use in a fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine. The upper end of the pump includes a chamber containing an annular seat spring-biased down- wardly against the top end of an annular piston fitted to a lower, coaxial chamber. A second piston fits into the annular piston and is itself spring- biased downwardly into the lower chamber. Below the lower chamber is a fuel chamber fitted with an upwardly biased plunger, engaging the bottom of the second piston. The pump is operated by the supply of gas to the lower chamber in a cyclic manner, or from the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine. The application also discloses a system employing the pump.
