The present invention provides an injector-ignition fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine, comprising an ECU controlling a heated catalyzed fuel injector for heating and catalyzing a next fuel charge, wherein the ECU uses a one firing cycle look-ahead algorithm for controlling fuel injection. The ECU may further incorporate a look-up table, auto- tuning functions and heuristics to compensate for the rapid rotational de-acceleration that occurs near top dead center in lightweight small ultra-high compression engines as may be used with this invention. The ECU may further ramp heat input to the injector in response to engine acceleration requests and, under such circumstances, may extend its look-ahead for up to four firing cycles.

L'invention concerne un système d'injection de carburant pour une opération allumage-injection destiné à un moteur à combustion interne, ledit système comprenant une unité de commande de moteur (ECU) qui commande un injecteur de carburant catalysé et chauffé pour chauffer et catalyser un charge de carburant à venir; l'ECU utilisant un algorithme à lecture anticipée de cycle d'allumage pour commander l'injection de carburant. L'ECU peut également comprendre une table de recherche, des fonctions d'auto-réglage et des heuristiques qui permettent de compenser la décélération rotative rapide se produisant à proximité du point mort haut dans des moteurs ultra-haute compression de taille réduite et légers comme ceux pouvant être utilisés dans le cadre de l'invention. L'ECU peut également échelonner l'entrée de chaleur dans l'injecteur en réponse à des demandes d'accélération du moteur et peut, dans de telles circonstances, étendre sa lecture anticipée jusqu'à quatre cycles d'allumage.
