There is disclosed a fuel lubricity additive, made by a two-step process wherein the first step is co-reacting an unsatured base oil, predominantly from vegetable oil sources, and a compound having a diene structure and a carboxylic acid group, wherein the second step is esterifying or amidifying the free carboxylic acid group of anhydride group with a polyhydroxy-containing compound or polyamine compound to form the final fuel lubricity additive useful in diesel fuels. The inventive fuel lubricity additive also is useful as a dispersant.

La présente invention concerne un additif à pouvoir lubrifiant pour carburant s'obtenant par un procédé à deux opérations. La première opération consiste en une co-réaction d'une huile de base, issue principalement de sources d'huiles végétales, et d'un composé présentant une structure diène et avec un groupe acide carboxylique. La seconde opération consiste en une estérification ou une amidification du groupe acide carboxylique libre du groupe anhydride en utilisant un composé contenant un groupe polyhydroxy ou un composé à base de polyamine, et ce, de façon à former le produit fini, en l'occurrence l'additif à pouvoir lubrifiant convenant aux carburants diesel. L'additif à pouvoir lubrifiant de l'invention convient également comme dispersant.
