CASE 4142 ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION DIESEL FUEL OILS FROM COAL Fuel oils especially suitable as gas oils for fuelling high speed Diesel engines, are made by hydrogenating a middle oil derived from coal and containing at least 90% of polycyclic hydrocarbons and essentially no paraffinic material, and fractionating the hydrogenated oil to yield the gas oil. The product oil is fully competitive with gas oils from petroleum, and may be blended with petroleum gas oil.
