A plurality of slippers spaced around the bore wall pumping pockets. Each of the slippers is located in a respective slot in a rotor and is biased radially outwardly of the rotor into engagement with the bore wall. An orifice of predetermined diameter is located in the inlet arc and in communication with the pump inlet and each pumping pocket at a location radially inwardly of the slippers. The orifice is circular in cross section and as a diameter falling within the range of .067 inches to .076 inches. The orifice restricts noise produced by fluid flow in the pump.
