Methods and apparatus for fuel release mitigation including enclosing a fuel cell stack within an enclosure, supplying oxidant to the enclosure, circulating the oxidant within the enclosure to mix with any fuel present in the enclosure, withdrawing circulated oxidant from the enclosure; and supplying at least a portion of the circulated oxidant withdrawn from the enclosure to the stack as the cathode inlet stream.

L'invention concerne des procédés et un appareil visant à réduire la libération de combustible, consistant à placer un ensemble de piles à combustibles dans un logement, à alimenter le logement en oxydant, à faire circuler l'oxydant dans le logement afin de le mélanger avec tout autre combustible présent dans le logement, à éliminer l'oxydant du logement, et à injecter au moins une partie de l'oxydant éliminé du logement dans l'ensemble comme flux d'entrée de cathode.
