ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A fuel tank cap having a fuel inlet passage therein includes an arrangement for automatically closing the fuel inlet passage when the cap is removed from the tank. A valve in the fuel inlet passage is spring biased toward a closed position. A valve actuator engageable with the edge of the tank inlet serves to open the valve against the spring force when the cap is seated on the tank inlet.
