Within a single envelope or housing, this full-function valve integrates all of the emergency and service requirements of a tandem axle air brake system for heavy duty truck semi-trailers, thereby decreasing complexity and cost and enhancing safety, reliability and operating capability while also satisfying applicable Federal Regulations. The housing encloses a spring brake valve module, a relay valve module and a biased one-way pressure protection valve, all interconnected to meet operating requirements, while preventing non-intentional spring brake engagement, foreclosing trailer movement without adequate service brake capability and optionally providing anti-compounding protection.

Cette invention concerne un robinet de freinage universel intégrant à l'intérieur d'un même corps ou enveloppe toutes les fonctions de commande de freinage normal et de secours d'un circuit de freinage pneumatique pour semi-remorques à pont tandem et alliant simplicité accrue, meilleur coût de fabrication, sécurité, fiabilité et puissance accrues, ainsi que conformité aux règlements fédéraux applicables. L'appareil comprend dans un même corps un module distributeur de freinage à ressort, un module valve-relais et une valve de rupture monovoie à ressort, tous interconnectés de manière à pouvoir répondre à tous les impératifs de fonctionnement sans risque d'application intempestive des freins à ressort. L'objet de l'invention comporte une fonction de blocage des freins en cas d'anomalie dans le circuit de freinage et peut aussi être dotée d'une fonction de protection contre le cumul intempestif des efforts de freinage.
