Abstract of the Disclosure An improved fume shield for a rotatable one-spot coke quenching car which is hinged to the frame of the car and is supported on the car body through rollers which engage circumferential ribs fixed to the body. The fume shield so mounted is free to compensate for distortions in the car body caused by temperature changes and therefore maintains a tight closing seal over the ports in the car body while the coke is being transported to the quenching station and coke wharf.
