23724-169 ABSTRACT A furniture hinge incorporates hinge elements that can be attached to the furniture casing and to a door, and has at least one arm that is articulated onto these hinge elements. The present invention alms to avoid disturbing closing noise, and to attenuate the effect of externally applied, increased closing forces. This is done by arranging a damping system between the functional elements of the hinge. This damping system comprises a piston rod that is articulated on an arm of the hinge and is connected with a bellows-like cover cap of a cylinder, within which the piston can slide. This cover cap is of rubber or rubber-like plastic, and is elastically deformable. In order to counteract the load peaks that occur during the closing movement of the piston of the damping system or of the furniture hinge, parts of the damping system can be elastically deformable under pressure, in order to provide for a brief enlargement of the flow area between the two chambers of the cylinder of the damping system.
