A disc furrow opener is arranged at an angle to the vertical and horizontal so that an angled furrow is formed in the ground and the upper side of the angled furrow is lifted as the disc passes along the furrow. A fertilizertube extends along the underface of the disc to place fertilizer at the bottom of the furrows. Seed is placed using a hoe opener forming a small furrow in the upwardly-facing side of the main furrow, above and to one side of the fertilizer.
