ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention provides furyloxazolylacetic acid derivatives of the formula: Image (I) wherein R1 is an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl group having 5 or 6 carbon atoms, a phenyl group or a substituted phenyl group (said substituted phenyl substituted with one or two radicals selected from alkyl having 1 or 2 carbon atoms, alkoxy having 1 or 2 carbon atoms and halogen), and R2 is hydrogen or an alkyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms. The compound (I) is useful as a hypolipidemic agent for the treatment or prevention of arteriosclerosis.
