The present invention provides methods for evaluating a Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cell population by mea-suring glycans containing terminal galactose-alpha-1-3-galactose residues produced by said cells, wherein the CHO cells have not been genetically engineered to express an alpha-galactosyl transferase coding sequence.
