ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A fluorescent display device capable of emitting blue to green light of high luminance and purity is composed of a vacuum tube having an anodic plate bearing thereon a fluorescent screen and a cathode facing the fluorescent screen. The fluorescent screen comprises a gallate-based phosphor represented by the formula A(Zn1-x'Mgx)O?Ga2O3:BMn wherein 0.6 ? A ? 1.2, O ? B ? 5 x 10-2, and 0 ? x ? 1Ø The vacuum tube may further contain a control grid between the anodic plate and the cathode.
