Abstract of the disclosure: The invention relates to gallium-containing or indium-containing zeolites, a process for their prepara- tion, and their use. For their preparation, a mixture of silicon compounds, aluminum compounds, sodium compounds, potassium compounds and choline compounds, water and gallium compounds and/or indium compounds in specified proportions is produced, and heated in a closed vessel. The zeolites are used as catalysts in the production of C2-C4-olefins from methanol.
