A means and method for increasing or inhibiting the secretion of cytokines using gallotannins and ellagitannins is described. The preferred cytokine release inhibiting compounds are dimeric gallotannins having a linker molecule that misaligns the carbohydrate cores of the compounds. The preferred cytokine release promoting gallotannins and ellagitannins include a diaryl ether linker unit. In comparison to the more structurally complex ellagitannins, the compounds of this invention are structurally simpler, easier to synthesize, and more potent.
L'invention porte sur un moyen et un procédé permettant d'augmenter ou d'inhiber la sécrétion de cytokines à l'aide de gallotanin et d'ellagitanin. Les composés préférés inhibant la libération de cytokines sont des gallotanins dimères ayant une molécule lieuse qui désaligne les noyaux glucidiques des composés. Les gallotanin et ellagitanin préférés, promoteurs de la libération de cytokines, comportent notamment une unité lieuse diaryl éther. Comparés à des ellagitanins de structure plus complexe, les composés selon l'invention sont de structure plus simple, plus faciles à synthétiser et plus efficaces.
