ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A galvanic cell having a primary radial type seal in conjunction with a secondary resealable vent closure, said resealable vent closure comprising a resilient elastomeric sponge gasket disposed and com- pressed between the upper surface of the cell's cover and the rim of the cell's container, which is turned over the upper surface of the cover, so as to facilitate the venting of any high pressure gases that may escape past the radial seal while retaining liquid.
