Reinforcing steel bar (rebar) in reinforced concrete and the like steel articles are inhibited from corrosion by providing along the length of the article adjacent to or in proximity to the article and in electrical contact a wire, strip or plate of a sacrificial metal or metal alloy, such as by welding, bolting, soldering or extrusion. Zinc wire (14) attached to rebar (12), for example, provides galvanic protection to the steel to prevent corrosion and subsequent deterioration of the reinforced concrete. The article such as rebar with attached zinc wire may be coated with an impermeable layer of a synthetic resin, inorganic material or the like insulating material to further extend the life of the article.
On protège contre la corrosion des barres d'armature en acier dans le béton armé et des articles en aciers similaires en produisante sur la longueur de l'article, contre ce dernier ou à proximité de celui-ci et en contact électrique, un fil, une bande ou une plaque en métal sacrificiel ou en alliage de métal fixés par soudage, boulonnage, brasage ou extrusion. Le fil de zinc (14) fixé à ladite barre (12) assure la protection galvanique de l'acier et empêche la corrosion et la détérioration ultérieure du béton armé. Pour prolonger la durée de vie d'un article tel qu'une barre d'armature, auquel est fixé le fil de zinc, on peut le recouvrir d'une couche imperméable de résine synthétique, de matériau inorganique ou d'un matériau isolant similaire.
