The present invention relates to a bag supporting device for supporting a T-shirt type shopping bag within a garbage container, this device comprising a frame having two spaced apart support arms extending horizontally from vertical support members, a back spacer connecting the vertical support members in spaced relationship, a hook means formed substantially at upper extremities of the vertical support members, this hook means being adapted for securely engaging the frame to an upper rim of the container. The support arms have a configuration adapted to accommodate the bag in an open-mouth position for receiving material. The support arms comprise upper portions having configuration adapted to engage handles of the bag in open-mouth position, and upper portions of the support arms have a tab-shaped configuration.
