- 20 - GARMENT FASTENER ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A garment or diaper has a fastening system for attaching the forward and rearward portions of the diaper. The fastening system comprises a hook fastener portion preferably made of extruded material which is mounted to an elastic portion which biases the hook into a protective pocket when in its unextended position. The pocket protects the hook from foreign material such as lint which would normally be attracted to the hook and contaminate its surface.
